Commutative Algebra, chapter VI, § 7. Approximation theorem

Let v1,…,vnv_1, \ldots, v_n (n≥2n \geq 2) be pairwise dependent valuations on the same field KK. Then the rings A1,…,AnA_1, \ldots, A_n of v1,…,vnv_1, \ldots, v_n generate a subring δ K\delta \ K distinct from KK.

For n=2n = 2 Proposition 4 follows from Definition 1. Suppose it holds for n−1n - 1 valuations. Then there exists a subring A of K distinct from K and containing A1,…,An−1A_1, \ldots, A_{n-1}; there also exists a subring B ≠K\neq K containing An−1A_{n-1} and AnA_n. As A and B contain An−1A_{n-1}, they are comparable with respect to inclusion (§ 4, no. 1, Corollary to Proposition 1). The greater of these two therefore contains all the AiA_i.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
