Algebra, chapter II, § 6. Inverse and direct limits of modules

Let MM be a right AA*-module, NN a left AA*-module, (xi)1≤i≤n(x_i)_{1 \leq i \leq n} a family of elements of MM, (yi)1≤i≤n(y_i)_{1 \leq i \leq n} a family of elements of NN, such that ∑i(xi⊗yi)=0\sum_i (x_i \otimes y_i) = 0 in M⊗ANM \otimes_A N. Then there exists a finitely generated submodule M1M_1 (resp. N1N_1) of MM (resp. NN) containing the xix_i (resp. the yiy_i) and such that ∑i(xi⊗yi)=0\sum_i (x_i \otimes y_i) = 0 in M1⊗AN1M_1 \otimes_A N_1.

MM (resp. NN) is canonically identified with the direct limit of the right directed family of its finitely generated submodules containing the xix_i (resp. the yiy_i) and it suffices to apply Set Theory, III, § 7, no. 5, Lemma 1.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
