Theory of Sets, chapter III, § 7. Inverse limits and direct limits
Let be a direct system of sets, its direct limit, and for each let the canonical mapping.
(i) Let be a finite system of elements of E. Then there exists and a finite system of elements of such that for .
(ii) Let be a finite system of elements of some . If for each pair of indices , then there exists such that for each pair .
(i) By the definition of E there exists for each an index and an element such that . Take such that for , and .
(ii) By the definition of E, for each pair there exists such that and . Take such that for all pairs , and use the relations .
Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
