Algebra, chapter II, § 7. Vector spaces

Let KK be a field and LL an extension field of KK.

(i) For every vector space EE over KK, dim⁡L(E(L))=dim⁡KE\dim_L(E_{(L)}) = \dim_K E.

(ii) For every KK-linear mapping u:E→Fu : E \to F, where EE and FF are vector spaces over KK, rg⁡(u(L))=rg⁡(u)\operatorname{rg}(u_{(L)}) = \operatorname{rg}(u).

If (ei)i∈I(e_i)_{i \in I} is a basis of EE over KK, (1⊗ei)i∈I(1 \otimes e_i)_{i \in I} is a basis of E(L)E_{(L)} over LL (§ 5, no. 1, Proposition 4), whence the first assertion; the second follows from the first and the fact that u(L)(E(L))u_{(L)}(E_{(L)}) is canonically identified with (u(E))(L)(u(E))_{(L)} by the Corollary to Proposition 18.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
