Algebra, chapter II, § 9. Affine spaces and projective spaces

For a non-empty family (ai)i∈I(a_i)_{i \in I} of points in an affine space E to be affinely related, it is necessary and sufficient that there exist a family (λi)i∈I(\lambda_i)_{i \in I} of elements not all zero in K, of finite support, such that ∑i∈Iλi=0\sum_{i \in I} \lambda_i = 0 and ∑i∈Iλiai=0\sum_{i \in I} \lambda_i a_i = 0.

Given an index κ∈I\kappa \in I, to say that the family of vectors (ai−aκ)(a_i - a_\kappa), where ii runs through the set of indices ≠κ\neq \kappa, is related in T, means that there exists a family of scalars (λi)i≠κ(\lambda_i)_{i \neq \kappa} not all zero such that ∑i≠κλi(ai−aκ)=0\sum_{i \neq \kappa} \lambda_i (a_i - a_\kappa) = 0, which may also be written ∑i∈Iλiai=0\sum_{i \in I} \lambda_i a_i = 0, with λκ=−∑i≠κλi\lambda_\kappa = -\sum_{i \neq \kappa} \lambda_i, in other words ∑i∈Iλi=0\sum_{i \in I} \lambda_i = 0.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
