Algebra, chapter II, § 10. Matrices

Let E and F be two right A-modules, (ei)(e_i) and (ei′)(e'_i) two bases of E with nn elements, (fj)(f_j) and (fj′)(f'_j) two bases of FF with mm elements, PP the matrix of passage from (ei)(e_i) to (ei′)(e'_i) and QQ the matrix of passage from (fj)(f_j) to (fj′)(f'_j). For every linear mapping uu of EE into FF, let M(u)M(u) be the matrix of uu with respect to the bases (ei)(e_i) and (fj)(f_j) and M′(u)M'(u) the matrix of uu with respect to the bases (ei′)(e'_i) and (fj′)(f'_j); then

M′(u)=Q−1M(u)P. M'(u) = Q^{-1} M(u) P.

We may write u=lF∘u∘lEu = l_F \circ u \circ l_E. Formula (33) follows immediately from no. 4, Corollary to Proposition 2 when the matrix of lEl_E is taken with respect to (ei′)(e'_i) and (ei)(e_i), that of uu with respect to (ei)(e_i) and (fi)(f_i) and that of lFl_F with respect to (fi)(f_i) and (fj′)(f'_j).

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
