Algebra, chapter II, § 11. Graded modules and rings

If every element of Δ\Delta is cancellable and (Aλ)(A_\lambda) is a graduation of type Δ\Delta compatible with the structure of a ring AA, A0A_0 is a subring of AA (and in particular 1∈A01 \in A_0).

As A0A0⊂A0A_0 A_0 \subset A_0 by definition, it suffices to prove that 1∈A01 \in A_0. Let 1=∑λ∈Δeλ1 = \sum_{\lambda \in \Delta} e_\lambda be the decomposition of 1 into its homogeneous components. If x∈Aμx \in A_\mu, then x=x.1=∑λ∈Δxeλx = x . 1 = \sum_{\lambda \in \Delta} x e_\lambda; comparing the components of degree μ\mu, (since μ+λ=μ\mu + \lambda = \mu implies λ=0\lambda = 0) x=xe0x = x e_0. Since this relation is true for every homogeneous element of AA, it is true for all x∈Ax \in A; in particular 1=1.e0=e0∈A01 = 1 . e_0 = e_0 \in A_0.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
