Algebra, chapter III, § 8. Determinants

For n vectors x1,…,xnx_1, \ldots, x_n of An\mathbf{A}^n, let Y(x1,…,xn)Y(x_1, \ldots, x_n) denote the square matrix of order n whose i-th row is xix_i, for 1≤i≤n1 \leq i \leq n. Then the mapping

(x1,…,xn)↦det⁡(Y(x1,…,xn)) (x_1, \ldots, x_n) \mapsto \det(Y(x_1, \ldots, x_n))
from (An)n(\mathbf{A}^n)^n to A\mathbf{A} is alternating and n-linear.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
