Algebra, chapter IV, § 1. Polynomials

Let u∈A[X]u \in A[X] and let X.ZX.Z be the family (XiZ)i∈I(X_iZ)_{i \in I}, of elements of the polynomial ring A[X][Z]A[X][Z]. The coefficient of ZkZ^k in u(X.Z)u(X.Z) is the homogeneous component of degree kk of uu, for every positive integer kk.

It suffices to prove this Prop. in the case where uu is a monomial, and in this case the result is clear.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
