Algebra, V, p. 10, § 2. Extensions

Let EE be an extension of KK and AA an algebra over EE. Then we have [A:K]=[A:E]⋅[E:K][A : K] = [A : E] \cdot [E : K]. In particular, if FF is an extension of EE, we have

[F:K]=[F:E]⋅[E:K]. [F : K] = [F : E] \cdot [E : K].

The theorem is just a special case of II, p. 222, Prop. 25; more precisely, if (ai)(a_i), , , is a basis of AA over EE and (bj)(b_j), ∈M\in M a basis of EE over KK, then the family (aλbμ)(λ,μ)∈L×J(a_\lambda b_\mu)_{(\lambda,\mu) \in L \times J} is a basis of AA over KK.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
