Algebra, chapter V, § 7. Separable algebraic extensions

— Every algebraic extension of a perfect field is a perfect field.

Let KK be a perfect field of characteristic exponent pp, and let EE be an algebraic extension of KK. Then EE is separable over KK (VV, p. 36, Prop. 2) whence E=K(Ep)E = K(E^p) by Prop. 11; but we have K=Kp⊂EpK = K^p \subset E^p, hence E=K(Ep)=EpE = K(E^p) = E^p, and so EE is perfect.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
