Topological Vector Spaces, chapter II, § 2. Convex sets

— Let A and B be two convex subsets of the vector space E. For any real numbers α,β\alpha, \beta the set αA+βB\alpha A + \beta B (set of points of the form αx+βy\alpha x + \beta y, where xx varies in A, and yy in B*) is convex*.

For αA+βB\alpha A + \beta B is the image of the convex subset A×BA \times B of E×EE \times E under the linear mapping (x,y)↦αx+βy(x, y) \mapsto \alpha x + \beta y of E×EE \times E in EE.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
