Topological Vector Spaces, II, p. 11, § 2. Convex sets

If C is a non-empty convex cone, the vector space generated by C is the set C−CC - C (the set of points x−yx - y where x, y vary in C).

For, if V=C−CV = C - C, then V is non empty, we have λV=V\lambda V = V for all λ≠0\lambda \neq 0, and V+V=C+C−(C+C)⊂C−C=VV + V = C + C - (C + C) \subset C - C = V, which shows that V is a vector subspace. Finally every vector subspace that contains C also contains V.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
