Topological Vector Spaces, chapter II, § 8. Complex locally convex spaces

— Let V be a vector subspace of E, a complex vector space, and let f be a (complex) linear form on V and p a semi-norm on E such that ∣f(y)∣≤p(y)|f(y)| \leq p(y) for all y∈Vy \in V. Then there exists a linear form f1f_1 on E extending f and such that ∣f1(x)∣≤p(x)|f_1(x)| \leq p(x) for all x∈Ex \in E.

For g=ℜfg = \Re f is a real linear form defined in V and satisfying ∣⋅(y)∣≤p(y)|\cdot(y)| \leq p(y) at every point of V; therefore there exists a real linear form g1g_1 in E extending g and such that ∣g1(x)∣≤p(x)|g_1(x)| \leq p(x) for all x∈Ex \in E (II, p. 23, cor. 1). Let f1(x)=g1(x)−ig1(ix)f_1(x) = g_1(x) - ig_1(ix) be the complex linear form on E of which g1g_1 is the real part (II, p. 61). For all real ϑ\vartheta

∣ℜ(eiϑf1(x))∣=∣ℜ(f1(eiϑx))∣=∣g1(eiϑx)∣≤p(eiϑx)=p(x) |\Re(e^{i\vartheta}f_1(x))| = |\Re(f_1(e^{i\vartheta}x))| = |g_1(e^{i\vartheta}x)| \leq p(e^{i\vartheta}x) = p(x)

since pp is a semi-norm on the complex space E; this implies the relation ∣f1(x)∣≤p(x)|f_1(x)| \leq p(x), and the theorem is proved.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
