Topological Vector Spaces, chapter V, § 1. Prehilbertian spaces and hilbertian spaces

Let II be an interval (bounded or not) in R\mathbf{R}, and let EE be the set of regulated functions (FVR, II, p. 4) defined on II with values in C\mathbf{C}, having compact support. It is clear that EE is a vector space over C\mathbf{C}; let ff be the sesquilinear form (x,y)↦∫11x(t)‾ y(t) dt(x, y) \mapsto \int_1^1 \overline{x(t)}\ y(t)\ dt; it is immediate that ff is a positive hermitian form on EE, and hence defines a prehilbertian structure on this space.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
