Functions of a Real Variable, chapter V, § 2. ASYMPTOTIC EXPANSIONS

For xx real tending to +∞+\infty the family E\mathscr{E} of functions of the form exp⁡(p(x))\exp(p(x)), where pp runs through the set of polynomials without constant term (with real coefficients), is a comparison scale: it suffices to remark that the quotient of two functions in E\mathscr{E} is again in E\mathscr{E}, and that a function exp⁡(p(x))\exp(p(x)) must tend either to 0 or +∞+\infty if p≠0p \neq 0; indeed, p(x)∼αxnp(x) \sim \alpha x^n where n>0n > 0 and α≠0\alpha \neq 0; if α>0\alpha > 0 then p(x)>12αxnp(x) > \frac{1}{2} \alpha x^n for xx sufficiently large; if α<0\alpha < 0 then p(x)<12αxnp(x) < \frac{1}{2} \alpha x^n for xx sufficiently large; in the first case exp⁡(p(x))\exp(p(x)) tends to +∞+\infty, in the second to 0.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
