Functions of a Real Variable, chapter V, § 2. ASYMPTOTIC EXPANSIONS

For xx real (resp. complex) tending to +∞+\infty (resp. ∞\infty), every polynomial a0xn+a1xn−1+…+ana_0 x^n + a_1 x^{n-1} + \ldots + a_n with coefficients in V, such that a0≠0a_0 \neq 0, has principal part a0xna_0 x^n with respect to the scale xnx^n (or any scale containing the xnx^n). It follows that every rational fraction a0xn+⋯+amb0xn+⋯+bn\frac{a_0 x^n + \cdots + a_m}{b_0 x^n + \cdots + b_n} with real or complex coefficients such that a0b0≠0a_0 b_0 \neq 0 has principal part a0b0xn\frac{a_0}{b_0} x^n with respect to the same scale.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
