Functions of a Real Variable, chapter VI, § 1. GENERALIZED TAYLOR EXPANSIONS

Let UU be a composition operator of order pp; then U(f)=0U(f) = 0 for every polynomial ff of degree <p< p; for every polynomial f≠0f \neq 0 of degree n≥pn \geq p, U(f)U(f) is a polynomial ≠0\neq 0 of degree n−pn - p.

This is an immediate consequence of formula (2) of VI, p. 271 and of the definition of the order of UU.

It is clear that every operator UU of order pp can be written in a unique way as U=DpV=VDpU = D^p V = V D^p, where VV is an operator of order 0 (and so invertible).

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
