Integration, chapter II, § 2. Linear forms on a Riesz space

Let F be any set, U\mathscr{U} an ultrafilter on F (GT, I, §6, No. 4), E the Riesz space B(F)\mathscr{B}(F) of bounded real-valued functions on F. For every x∈Ex \in E, lim⁡Ux(t)\lim_{\mathscr{U}} x(t) exists, because x(U)x(\mathscr{U}) is a base of an ultrafilter on the relatively compact set x(F)x(F), hence is convergent. Moreover, if x≥0x \geq 0 then lim⁡Ux(t)≥0\lim_{\mathscr{U}} x(t) \geq 0 by the principle of extension of inequalities; the mapping x↦lim⁡Uxx \mapsto \lim_{\mathscr{U}} x is thus a positive linear form on E. If U\mathscr{U} is taken to be the ultrafilter formed by the sets containing an element a∈Fa \in F, one recovers the positive linear form x↦x(a)x \mapsto x(a) (Example 1).

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
