Integration, chapter III, § 1. Measures on a locally compact space

— If μ\mu and ν\nu are two positive measures on XX, then ∥μ+ν∥=∥μ∥+∥ν∥\| \mu + \nu \| = \| \mu \| + \| \nu \|.

For, the functions f∈K(X;R)f \in \mathscr{K}(X; \mathbf{R}) such that 0≤f≤10 \leq f \leq 1 form a directed set SS for the relation ≤\leq. For a positive measure μ\mu on XX, it therefore follows from (22) and the monotone limit theorem that ∥μ∥=lim⁡f∈Sμ(f)\| \mu \| = \lim_{f \in S} \mu(f); the conclusion of the proposition then follows at once.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
