Integration, chapter III, § 1. Measures on a locally compact space

— Let KK be a compact subset of XX, HH a vaguely bounded subset of M(X;C)\mathscr{M}(X; \mathbf{C}); then, the bilinear form (f,μ)↦⟨f,μ⟩(f, \mu) \mapsto \langle f, \mu \rangle is continuous on K(X,K;C)×H\mathscr{K}(X, K; \mathbf{C}) \times H when K(X,K;C)\mathscr{K}(X, K; \mathbf{C}) is equipped with the topology of uniform convergence and HH with the vague topology.

For, there exists a number M⩾0M \geqslant 0 such that

∣μ(f)∣⩽M∥f∥ |\mu(f)| \leqslant M \|f\|
for every function f∈K(X,K;C)f \in \mathscr{K}(X, K; \mathbf{C}) and every measure μ∈H\mu \in H (Prop. 15). If μ0\mu_0 and μ\mu are two measures belonging to HH, f0f_0 and ff two functions in K(X,K;C)\mathscr{K}(X, K; \mathbf{C}), then
∣μ(f)−μ0(f0)∣=∣μ(f−f0)+μ(f0)−μ0(f0)∣⩽M∥f−f0∥+∣μ(f0)−μ0(f0)∣, |\mu(f) - \mu_0(f_0)| = |\mu(f - f_0) + \mu(f_0) - \mu_0(f_0)| \\ \leqslant M \|f - f_0\| + |\mu(f_0) - \mu_0(f_0)|,
and the last quantity is arbitrarily small when ∥f−f0∥\|f - f_0\| and ∣μ(f0)−μ0(f0)∣|\mu(f_0) - \mu_0(f_0)| are, which proves the proposition.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
