Integration, chapter III, § 4. Products of measures

Let λ,μ\lambda, \mu be two measures defined, respectively, on two locally compact spaces X,YX, Y. For every function ff in K(X×Y;C)\mathscr{K}(X \times Y; \mathbf{C}), the integral of ff with respect to the product measure ν\nu of λ\lambda by μ\mu has the value

∫f(x,y)dν(x,y)=∫dλ(x)∫f(x,y)dμ(y) \int f(x, y) d\nu(x, y) = \int d\lambda(x) \int f(x, y) d\mu(y)
(3)(3)
=∫dμ(y)∫f(x,y)dλ(x). = \int d\mu(y) \int f(x, y) d\lambda(x).

Because of the last formula, the integral of ff with respect to the product measure ν\nu is usually denoted ∬f dλ dμ\iint f\, d\lambda\, d\mu, or ∬f dμ dλ\iint f\, d\mu\, d\lambda, or ∬f λμ\iint f\, \lambda\mu, or ∬f μλ\iint f\, \mu\lambda, or ∬f(x,y) dλ(x) dμ(y)\iint f(x, y)\, d\lambda(x)\, d\mu(y), or ∬f(x,y) dμ(y) dλ(x)\iint f(x, y)\, d\mu(y)\, d\lambda(x), or ∬f(x,y) λ(x)μ(y)\iint f(x, y)\, \lambda(x)\mu(y), or ∬f(x,y) μ(y)λ(x)\iint f(x, y)\, \mu(y)\lambda(x); it is said to be the double integral of ff with respect to λ\lambda and μ\mu. With this notation, the formula (3) may be written

∬f(x,y) dλ(x) dμ(y)=∫dλ(x)∫f(x,y) dμ(y) \iint f(x, y)\, d\lambda(x)\, d\mu(y) = \int d\lambda(x) \int f(x, y)\, d\mu(y)
=∫dμ(y)∫f(x,y) dλ(x). = \int d\mu(y) \int f(x, y)\, d\lambda(x).

Formula (3) shows that if λ\lambda and μ\mu are real (resp. positive) measures, then the product measure ν\nu is real (resp. positive).

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
