Integration, chapter IV, § 4. Integrable functions and sets

— A real-valued function λ\lambda defined on a clan Φ\Phi of subsets of a set AA is said to be additive if, for every pair M,NM, N of disjoint sets belonging to Φ\Phi, λ(M∪N)=λ(M)+λ(N)\lambda(M \cup N) = \lambda(M) + \lambda(N).

It follows in particular from this definition that λ(∅)=0\lambda(\varnothing) = 0.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
