Integration, V, p. 54, § 5. Measures defined by numerical densities
In order that two complex measures and on be alien to each other, it is necessary and sufficient that there exist in two disjoint sets and such that is concentrated on and on ; and may be taken to be universally measurable.
Set , , ; since and are bounded above by , there exist two locally -integrable functions and (which one can suppose to be universally measurable by §3, No. 4, Prop. 7) such that , . Then
(No. 2, Cor. of Prop. 2). Let (resp. ) be the set of such that and (resp. and ). If and are alien, then locally -almost everywhere (No. 3, Cor. 2 of Prop. 3), so that the disjoint universally measurable sets and carry and , respectively. Conversely, suppose that and are carried, respectively, by disjoint sets and ; is measurable for the measure , and . By Prop. 8 of No. 4, the function is -measurable, and . Similarly, if then ; one concludes by remarking that (No. 2, Cor. of Prop. 2).
Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
