Integration, V, p. 68, § 6. Images of a measure

Let θ\theta be a complex measure on a locally compact space TT. A mapping π\pi of TT into a locally compact space XX is said to be θ\theta-proper if it is ∣θ∣|\theta|-proper. The measure f↦∫(f∘π) dθf \mapsto \int (f \circ \pi) \, d\theta is then called the image of θ\theta under π\pi and is denoted π(θ)\pi(\theta)..

The relation (7) may then be put in the following form:

∣π(θ)∣≤π(∣θ∣). |\pi(\theta)| \leq \pi(|\theta|) .

The measure π(θ)\pi(\theta) may be zero without θ\theta being zero, as one sees immediately on taking for TT a space reduced to two points a,ba, b, for θ\theta the measure εa−εb\varepsilon_a - \varepsilon_b, and for π\pi a constant mapping.

Let θ\theta and θ′\theta' be two complex measures on TT; if π\pi is θ\theta-proper and θ′\theta'-proper, it follows from Cor. 2 of Prop. 6 that π\pi is (θ+θ′)(\theta + \theta')-proper since ∣θ+θ′∣≤∣θ∣+∣θ′∣|\theta + \theta'| \leq |\theta| + |\theta'|, and obviously π(θ+θ′)=π(θ)+π(θ′)\pi(\theta + \theta') = \pi(\theta) + \pi(\theta').

In particular, if θ\theta is a real measure and π\pi is θ\theta-proper, then

π(θ)=π(θ+)−π(θ−). \pi(\theta) = \pi(\theta^+) - \pi(\theta^-) .

Several results established earlier extend at once to complex measures; we cite the most important among them.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
