Integration, chapter VII, § 1. Construction of a Haar measure

Let μ\mu be a left Haar measure on GG. For a nonzero measure ν\nu on GG to be relatively left-invariant, it is necessary and sufficient that it be of the form aχ⋅μa \chi \cdot \mu, where a∈C∗a \in \mathbf{C}^* and χ\chi is a continuous representation of GG in C∗\mathbf{C}^*; its multiplier is then χ\chi.

The condition is sufficient (Prop. 10). On the other hand, if ν\nu is a nonzero relatively left-invariant measure with multiplier χ\chi, then χ−1⋅ν\chi^{-1} \cdot \nu is left-invariant (Prop. 10) hence is of the form aμa \mu with a∈C∗a \in \mathbf{C}^* (No. 2, Cor. of Th. 1).

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
