Integration, chapter VII, § 2. Quotient of a space by a group; homogeneous spaces

— Let GG be a locally compact group, AA and BB closed subgroups of GG such that A⊃BA \supset B. Suppose that there exists, on the homogeneous space G/BG/B of left cosets with respect to BB, a nonzero positive measure α\alpha that is invariant under GG and is bounded.

a) The canonical image of α\alpha in G/AG/A is a nonzero positive measure, invariant under GG, and bounded.

b) ΔG\Delta_G coincides with ΔA\Delta_A on AA and with ΔB\Delta_B on BB.

c) There exists, on the homogeneous space A/BA/B of left cosets of AA with respect to BB, a nonzero positive measure invariant under AA and bounded.

The assertion a) is immediate. The assertion b) follows from a) and No. 6, Cor. 2 of Th. 3. By b), ΔA\Delta_A coincides with ΔB\Delta_B on BB, and one can therefore apply the results of the present subsection, on taking X=GX = G, H=AH = A, H′=BH' = B. The function 1 on G/BG/B is α\alpha-integrable. By a) of Cor. 1, the function 1 on A/BA/B is integrable for β/β′\beta/\beta', where β\beta and β′\beta' denote left Haar measures on AA and BB; thus β/β′\beta/\beta' is bounded.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
