Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, chapter I, § 3. Representations

Let g be a Lie algebra over K and a an ideal of g. Let M be a g-module and NN a simple aa-module. Consider MM as an aa-module and suppose that the set of sub-aa-modules of MM which are pure of species NN admits a maximal element M′M'. Then M′M' is a sub-gg-module of MM.

Let y∈gy \in g. Let ϕ\phi be the canonical mapping of MM onto M/M′M/M' and ff the mapping m↦ϕ(yM⋅m)m \mapsto \phi(y_M \cdot m) of M′M' into M/M′M/M'. It suffices to show that f(M′)={0}f(M') = \{0\}. Let x∈ax \in a. Then, for m∈Mm \in M,

xM/M′⋅f(m)=ϕ(xMyM⋅m)=ϕ(yMxM⋅m)+ϕ([x,y]M⋅m). x_{M/M'} \cdot f(m) = \phi(x_M y_M \cdot m) = \phi(y_M x_M \cdot m) + \phi([x, y]_M \cdot m).

Now [x,y]∈a[x, y] \in a, whence ϕ([x,y]M⋅m)=0\phi([x, y]_M \cdot m) = 0; on the other hand,

ϕ(yMxM⋅m)=f(xM⋅m). \phi(y_M x_M \cdot m) = f(x_M \cdot m).

Hence xM/M′⋅f(m)=f(xM⋅m)x_{M/M'} \cdot f(m) = f(x_M \cdot m). It follows that f(M′)f(M') is a sub-aa-module of M/M′M/M' isomorphic to a quotient of M′M' and hence pure of species NN; hence f(M′)={0}f(M') = \{0\}.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
