Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, chapter I, § 4. Nilpotent Lie algebras

Let g be a Lie algebra, a an ideal of g and M a simple g-module. If, for all x∈a, xMx \in a,\ x_M is nilpotent, then xM=0x_M = 0 for all x∈ax \in a.

Let N be the subspace of M consisting of the m∈Mm \in M such that xM.m=0x_M.m = 0 for all x∈ax \in a. By Theorem 1, N≠{0}N \neq \{0\}. On the other hand, for all y∈gy \in g, N is stable under yMy_M (§ 3, no. 5, Proposition 5). Hence N=MN = M, which proves the lemma.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
