Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, chapter III, § 3. Passage from a Lie group to its Lie algebra

Let G be a Lie group and X a manifold of class CrC^r. Suppose that a law of left (resp. right) operation of class CrC^r of G on X is given. For all a∈L(G)a \in L(G), let DaD_a be the field of point distributions defined by a on X.

(i) The mapping (a,x)↦Da(x)(a, x) \mapsto D_a(x) is a morphism of class Cr−1C^{r-1} of the trivial vector bundle L(G)×XL(G) \times X into the vector bundle T(X)T(X).

(ii) Let I be an open subset of K containing 0 and γ:I→G\gamma : I \to G a mapping of class CrC^r such that γ(0)=e\gamma(0) = e. Let a=T0(γ)1∈L(G)a = T_0(\gamma)1 \in L(G). If f is a function of class CrC^r on an open subset of X, then

(Daf)(x)=lim⁡k∈K∗,k→0k−1(f(γ(k)x)−f(x))if G operates on the left, (D_a f)(x) = \lim_{k \in \mathbf{K}^*, k \to 0} k^{-1}(f(\gamma(k)x) - f(x)) \quad \text{if G operates on the left,}
(Daf)(x)=lim⁡k∈K∗,k→0k−1(f(xγ(k))−f(x))if G operates on the right. (D_a f)(x) = \lim_{k \in \mathbf{K}^*, k \to 0} k^{-1}(f(x\gamma(k)) - f(x)) \quad \text{if G operates on the right.}

(iii) If r≥2r \geq 2, the mapping a↦Daa \mapsto D_a is a law of infinitesimal left (resp. right) operation of class Cr−1C^{r-1} of L(G)L(G) on X.

Suppose that G operates on X on the left. Let ϕ:G×X→X\phi : G \times X \to X be the law of operation. Then T(ϕ)T(\phi) is a ϕ\phi-morphism of class Cr−1C^{r-1} of the vector bundle T(G)×T(X)T(G) \times T(X) into the vector bundle T(X)T(X) (Differentiable and Analytic

Manifolds, R, 8.1.2). The induced vector bundle (T(G)×T(X))∣{ϵ}×X(\mathrm{T}(G) \times \mathrm{T}(X))|_{\{\epsilon\} \times X} is identified with E=L(G)×T(X)E = L(G) \times T(X). Hence T(ϕ)∣ET(\phi)|E is a vector bundle morphism of class Cr−1C^{r-1}. For (a,x)∈L(G)×X,T(ϕ)(a,x)=Da(x)(a, x) \in L(G) \times X, T(\phi)(a, x) = D_a(x), whence (i).

The formula giving (Daf)(x)(D_a f)(x) follows from § 2, the end of no. 2, and Differentiable and Analytic Manifolds, R, 8.4.5.

Suppose that r⩾2r \geqslant 2. Let a,ba, b be in L(G)L(G) and ff be a function of class CrC^r on an open subset of XX. Then

D[a,b]f=Db(Daf)−Da(Dbf)by (17)=[Db,Da]f. \begin{align*} D_{[a, b]}f &= D_b(D_a f) - D_a(D_b f) \quad \text{by (17)} \\ &= [D_b, D_a]f \tag{Diff. \& Anal. Man., R, 8.5.3}. \end{align*}
Let x∈Xx \in X. By taking ff to be a chart on an open neighbourhood of xx, it follows that D[a,b](x)=[Db,Da](x)D_{[a, b]}(x) = [D_b, D_a](x), whence (iii). The argument is similar if GG operates on XX on the right.

When r⩾2r \geqslant 2, the mapping a↦Daa \mapsto D_a is called the law of infinitesimal operation associated with the given law of operation.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
