Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, chapter III, § 3. Passage from a Lie group to its Lie algebra

*Let I be a subset of {1,2,…,n}\{1, 2, \ldots, n\} and G the subgroup of GL(E)\mathbf{GL}(E) consisting of the g=(gij)1≤i,j≤n∈GL(E)g = (g_{ij})_{1 \leq i, j \leq n} \in \mathbf{GL}(E) such that gij=0g_{ij} = 0 for i<ji < j and gii=1g_{ii} = 1 for i∈Ii \in I. Then G is a Lie subgroup of GL(E)\mathbf{GL}(E) and L(G)\mathbf{L}(G) is the set of x=(xij)1≤i,j≤n∈L(E)x = (x_{ij})_{1 \leq i, j \leq n} \in \mathscr{L}(E) such that xij=0x_{ij} = 0 for i<ji < j and xii=0x_{ii} = 0 for i∈Ii \in I.

Let S be the set of (xij)∈L(E)(x_{ij}) \in \mathscr{L}(E) such that xij=0x_{ij} = 0 for i<ji < j and xii=0x_{ii} = 0 for i∈Ii \in I. Then G is the intersection of GL(E)\mathbf{GL}(E) and the affine subspace 1+S1 + S of L(E)\mathscr{L}(E). Hence G is a submanifold of GL(E)\mathbf{GL}(E) and the tangent space to G at 1 is identified with S.*

In particular, in GL(n,K)\mathbf{GL}(n, K), the total lower triangular subgroup and the lower strict triangular subgroup, defined as in Integration, Chapter VII, § 3, no. 3, are Lie subgroups with Lie algebras t(n,K)t(n, K) and n(n,K)n(n, K) (Chapter I, § 1, no. 2).

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
