Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, chapter III, § 3. Passage from a Lie group to its Lie algebra

Suppose that K is locally compact. Let μ be a Haar measure on the additive group of K. Let G be a Lie group of finite dimension n.

(i) Let ω be a non-zero left invariant differential form of degree n on G. Then the measure mod(ω)μ\mathrm{mod}(\omega)_\mu (Differentiable and Analytic Manifolds, R, 10.1.6) is a left Haar measure on G. If K=RK = \mathbf{R} and G has the orientation defined by ω, the measure defined by ω (Differentiable and Analytic Manifolds, R, 10.4.3) is a left Haar measure on G.

(ii) Let φ be an étale endomorphism of G. Then mod ϕ=mod det⁡L(ϕ)\mathrm{mod}\, \phi = \mathrm{mod}\, \det L(\phi).

(i) is obvious. Let V, V′V' be open neighbourhoods of e such that ϕ(V)=V′\phi(V) = V' and ϕ∣V\phi|V is a local isomorphism of G into G. Then

ϕ−1(mod(ω)μ∣V′)=mod(ϕ∗(ω))μ∣V)by transport of structure \phi^{-1}(\mathrm{mod}(\omega)_\mu|V') = \mathrm{mod}(\phi^*(\omega))_\mu|V) \quad \text{by transport of structure}
=mod(det⁡L(ϕ)ω∣V)μ(Proposition 54) = \mathrm{mod}(\det L(\phi)\omega|V)_\mu \quad \text{(Proposition 54)}
=mod det⁡L(ϕ)(mod(ω)μ∣V) = \mathrm{mod}\, \det L(\phi)(\mathrm{mod}(\omega)_\mu|V)

whence mod ϕ=mod det⁡L(ϕ)\mathrm{mod}\, \phi = \mathrm{mod}\, \det L(\phi) by definition of mod ϕ\mathrm{mod}\, \phi.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
