Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, chapter VI, § 1. Root systems

Let B be a basis of R and α\alpha an indivisible root. There exist β∈B\beta \in B and w∈W(R)w \in W(R) such that α=w(β)\alpha = w(\beta).

Let C be the chamber such that B=B(C)B = B(C). The hyperplane LαL_\alpha is a wall of a chamber C′C' of R, and there exists an element of W(R)W(R) that transforms C′C' to C. We are therefore reduced to the case where LαL_\alpha is a wall of C. Then α\alpha is proportional to an element β\beta of R. Since α\alpha and β\beta are indivisible, α=±β\alpha = \pm \beta. If α=−β\alpha = -\beta, then α=sβ(β)\alpha = s_\beta(\beta), hence the proposition.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
