General Topology, chapter I, § 5. Open mappings and closed mappings

Let XX be the sum of a family (Xi)(X_i) of subspaces of XX, and let X/RX/R be the space obtained by pasting together the XiX_i along open subsets AixA_{ix} by means of bijections hixh_{ix} (§ 2, no. 5); and suppose that hixh_{ix} is a homeomorphism of AixA_{ix} onto Ax′A_{x'} for each pair of indices (i,x)(i, x).

Then the relation R is open. For if U is open in X, the saturation of U is the union of the hx!(U∩Aix)h_{x!}(U \cap A_{ix}); since U∩AixU \cap A_{ix} is open in AixA_{ix}, hx!(U∩Aix)h_{x!}(U \cap A_{ix}) is open in AixA_{ix} and therefore in X.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
