General Topology, chapter I, § 6. Filters

Let F\mathfrak{F} be a filter on a set XX and AA a subset of XX. Then the trace FA\mathfrak{F}_A of F\mathfrak{F} on AA is a filter if and only if each set of F\mathfrak{F} meets AA.

Since (M∩N)∩A=(M∩A)∩(N∩A)(M \cap N) \cap A = (M \cap A) \cap (N \cap A) we see that FA\mathfrak{F}_A satisfies (FII)(\mathrm{F}_{\mathrm{II}}); again, if M∩A⊂P⊂AM \cap A \subset P \subset A then P=(M∪P)∩AP = (M \cup P) \cap A, whence FA\mathfrak{F}_A satisfies (F1)(\mathrm{F}_1). Hence FA\mathfrak{F}_A is a filter if and only if it satisfies (FIII)(\mathrm{F}_{\mathrm{III}}), i.e. if and only if each set of F\mathfrak{F} meets AA.

In particular, if A∈FA \in \mathfrak{F} then FA\mathfrak{F}_A is a filter on AA, by (FII)(\mathrm{F}_{\mathrm{II}}) and (FIII)(\mathrm{F}_{\mathrm{III}}).

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
