General Topology, chapter I, § 9. Compact spaces and locally compact spaces
A subset A of a topological space X is said to be a quasi-compact (resp. compact) set if the subspace A is quasi-compact (resp. compact).
A subset of a topological space is a quasi-compact set if and only if every covering of by open sets of contains a finite covering of ; this follows from axiom . In a Hausdorff space, the notions of quasi-compact and compact sets are the same, since every subspace is Hausdorff.
Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
