General Topology, chapter I, § 10. Proper mappings

Let XX be a set, and let f:X→X′f : X \to X' be a mapping of XX onto a topological space X′X'; topologize XX with the inverse image under ff of the topology of X′X'. Then ff is proper, for ff is closed (§ 5, no. 1, Example 3) and the inverse image of a point of X′X' is a subspace of XX whose topology is the coarsest topology and is therefore quasi-compact.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
