General Topology, chapter II, § 2. Uniformly continuous functions

If U1\mathfrak{U}_1 and U2\mathfrak{U}_2 are two uniform structures on the same set X, U1\mathfrak{U}_1 is said to be finer than U2\mathfrak{U}_2 (and U2\mathfrak{U}_2 coarser than U1\mathfrak{U}_1) if, denoting by XiX_i the set X with the uniform structure Ui\mathfrak{U}_i (i=1,2i = 1,2), the identity mapping X1→X2X_1 \to X_2 is uniformly continuous.

If U1\mathfrak{U}_1 is finer than U2\mathfrak{U}_2 and distinct from U2\mathfrak{U}_2, we say that U1\mathfrak{U}_1 is strictly finer than U2\mathfrak{U}_2 (and that U2\mathfrak{U}_2 is strictly coarser than U1\mathfrak{U}_1).

Two uniformities are said to be comparable if one is finer than the other.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
