General Topology, chapter II, § 4. Relations between uniform spaces and compact spaces

In a uniform space XX, the set Ax,vA_{x, v} of points which can be joined by a VV-chain to a given point xx is both open and closed in XX.

For each x∈Xx \in X, let AxA_x denote the intersection of the sets Ax,vA_{x, v} as VV runs through the set of symmetric entourages of XX; AxA_x is the equivalence class of xx for the equivalence relation "for all symmetric entourages VV, there is a VV-chain joining xx and yy".

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
