General Topology, chapter III, § 7. Inverse limits of topological groups and rings

If the subgroup HαH_\alpha is compact for some α∈I\alpha \in I, then HβH_\beta is compact for all β≥α\beta \geq \alpha, because it is a closed subgroup of HαH_\alpha. Since the set of all β∈I\beta \in I such that β≥α\beta \geq \alpha is cofinal in II, it makes essentially no difference, in the study of the group GG, whether we suppose that one of the HαH_\alpha is compact or that all the HαH_\alpha are compact.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
