General Topology, chapter IV, § 3. The field of real numbers

The functions xy and 1/x1/x, defined respectively on Q×Q\mathbf{Q} \times \mathbf{Q} and Q∗\mathbf{Q}^*, can be extended by continuity to R×R\mathbf{R} \times \mathbf{R} and R∗\mathbf{R}^* respectively, and define a field structure on R\mathbf{R}. Endowed with this structure, R\mathbf{R} is called the field of real numbers.

All the properties of topological fields established in § 6 of Chapter III are of course applicable; in particular, every rational function of nn real variables, with real coefficients, is continuous at every point of Rn\mathbf{R}^n where its denominator does not vanish.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
