General Topology, chapter IX, § 4. Normal spaces

A metrizable space is normal.

Let XX be a metrizable space and let dd be a metric compatible with the topology of XX. Let A,BA, B be two disjoint closed subsets of XX; since the functions d(x,A)d(x, A) and d(x,B)d(x, B) are continuous, the set UU (resp. VV) of points xx such that d(x,A)<d(x,B)d(x, A) < d(x, B) [resp. d(x,B)<d(x,A)d(x, B) < d(x, A)] is open; clearly A⊂UA \subset U and B⊂VB \subset V and U∩V=∅U \cap V = \varnothing, hence Axiom (OV′)(O'_V) is satisfied.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
