Commutative Algebra, chapter X, § 4. Anneaux réguliers

Let AA be a noetherian ring. The following conditions are equivalent: (i) AA is regular; (ii) every finitely generated AA-module has projective dimension <+∞< +\infty; (iii) for every maximal ideal mm of AA, the projective dimension of A/mA/m is finite; (iv) for every prime ideal pp of AA, the local ring ApA_p is regular.

Let us prove that (i) implies (ii). Let MM be a finitely generated AA-module. Under hypothesis (i), one has dpAm(Mm)≤dh(Am)<+∞\mathrm{dp}_{A_m}(M_m) \leq \mathrm{dh}(A_m) < +\infty for every maximal ideal mm of AA (No. 1, prop. 1); therefore MM has projective dimension <+∞< +\infty (§3§ 3, No. 2, cor. 2 of prop. 3), whence (ii).

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
