Commutative Algebra, chapter X, § 4. Anneaux réguliers
Let be a regular integral ring and let be a noetherian subring of such that is a finitely generated -module. The following conditions are equivalent:
(i) is regular ; (ii) is a projective -module ; (iii) is a flat -module ; (iv) is a faithfully flat -module.
(i) (ii) : this follows from the Cor. of Prop. 5 of No. 3. (ii) (iii) : this follows from I, § 3, No. 1, Prop. 1. (iii) (iv) : for every prime ideal of , one has (V, § 2, No. 1, Cor. 1 of Theorem 1). It is then enough to apply I, § 3, No. 1, Prop. 1. (iv) (i) : this follows from Prop. 8, b).
For every noetherian local ring , let us denote by the integer
Recall (VIII, § 5, No. 1) that is always positive and that its vanishing characterises regular local rings.
Let be a local homomorphism of noetherian local rings; from one deduces a -linear homomorphism , whence a -linear homomorphism
Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
