Commutative Algebra, chapter X, § 4. Anneaux réguliers
*Let be a local homomorphism of noetherian local rings. The following conditions are equivalent:
(i) the ring is regular and the -linear mapping
is injective; (ii) the rings and are regular and the -module is flat; (iii) the rings and are regular and the -module is flat; (iv) the rings and are regular, and one has
One has (VIII, § 3, No. 4, Corollary 1 of Proposition 7); the equivalence of (i) and (iv) therefore follows from Lemma 1. Under hypothesis (ii), the -module is faithfully flat since one has (I, § 3, No. 1, Proposition 1), which implies (iii) by Proposition 8. The implication (iii) (iv) follows from VIII, loc. cit.
It now remains for us to prove that when the equivalent conditions (i) and (iv) are satisfied, the -module is flat. Let be a system of coordinates of . Since is injective, the image of this sequence under forms part of a system of coordinates of . Thus the sequence is completely secant for and for (VIII, § 5, No. 3, Proposition 2), and generates the ideal of . By Remark 3 of A, X, p. 159, the -module is isomorphic to , and therefore is zero; it follows that is flat over (III, § 5, No. 2, Theorem 1 and No. 4, Proposition 2).
Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
