Let GG be a finite commutative group written additively. Let x=∑g∈Ggx = \sum_{g \in G} g and let G2G_2 be the subgroup of GG consisting of the elements gg such that 2g=02g = 0. (a) Show that x=∑g∈G2gx = \sum_{g \in G_2} g. (b) Show that x=0x = 0 if Card(G2)≠2\mathrm{Card}(G_2) \neq 2. If Card(G2)=2\mathrm{Card}(G_2) = 2, show that xx is the unique non-zero element of G2G_2. (c) Show that Card(G2)=2\mathrm{Card}(G_2) = 2 if and only if the Sylow 2-subgroup of GG is cyclic and ≠0\neq 0. (d) *Let pp be a prime number. Show that

(p−1)!≡−1(modp). (p - 1)! \equiv -1 \pmod{p}.
(Apply (b) to the multiplicative group of the field Z/pZ\mathbf{Z}/p\mathbf{Z}.)
