Algebra, VIII, p. 162, § 9. Radical

Let M be an A-module and (P,u)(P, u) a projective cover of M. Denote the radical of the ring A by r\mathfrak{r}. The homomorphism u‾:P/rP→M/rM\overline{u}: P/\mathfrak{r}P\rightarrow M/\mathfrak{r}M deduced from uu by passing to the quotients is an isomorphism.

The homomorphism uu is surjective by definition, so u‾\overline{u} is surjective. Denote the kernel of uu by N. We have u−1(rM)=N+rPu^{-1}(\mathfrak{r}M) = N +\mathfrak{r}P. Let us prove that we have N⊂rPN\subset \mathfrak{r}P, which implies the injectivity of u‾\overline{u}. For every maximal submodule P′P' of P, we have u(P′)≠Mu(P')\not= M, hence P′+N≠PP'+ N\not= P; since P′P' is maximal, we have N⊂P′N\subset P'. The submodule N of P is therefore contained in the radical of P. Now, the latter is equal to rP\mathfrak{r}P by Proposition 6 of VIII, p. 158.

Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
