Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, chapter VIII, § 5. Automorphisms of a semi-simple Lie algebra

The image of the composite homomorphism

TP⟶qTQ⟶fT_P\longrightarrow^qT_Q\longrightarrow^f Aut(g,h\mathfrak{g},\mathfrak{h})

is contained in Aute(g)_e(\mathfrak{g}).

Let B be a basis of R. Then (Hα)α∈B(H_{\alpha})_{\alpha\in B} is a basis of R∨R^{\vee}, and the dual basis of (Hα)α∈B(H_{\alpha})_{\alpha\in B} in h∗\mathfrak{h}^* is a basis of the group P(R). Hence the group TPT_P is generated by the homomorphisms λ→tλ(Hα)(t∈k∗,α∈B)\lambda \rightarrow t^{\lambda(H_{\alpha})}(t\in k^*, \alpha \in B). If φ\varphi is the restriction of such a homomorphism to Q(R), Lemma 1 proves that f(φ)∈f(\varphi )\in Aute(g)_e(\mathfrak{g}), hence the proposition.

Let k‾\overline{k} be an algebraic closure of kk. The map which associates to any automorphism ss of g\mathfrak{g} the automorphism s⊗1s\otimes 1 of g⊗kk‾\mathfrak{g}\otimes_k\overline{k} is an injective homomorphism from Aut(g\mathfrak{g}) to Aut(g⊗kk‾\mathfrak{g}\otimes_k\overline{k}). We denote by Aut0(g)_0(\mathfrak{g}) the normal subgroup of Aut(g\mathfrak{g}) which is the inverse image of Aute(g⊗kk‾)_e(\mathfrak{g}\otimes_k\overline{k}) under this homomorphism; this is the set of automorphisms of g\mathfrak{g} that become elementary on extending the base field from kk to k‾\overline{k}. It is clear that Aute(g)_e(\mathfrak{g}) is independent of the choice of k‾\overline{k}, and that Aute(g)⊂_e(\mathfrak{g})\subset Aut0(g)_0(\mathfrak{g}). The groups Aut0(g)_0(\mathfrak{g}) and Aute(g)_e(\mathfrak{g}) can be distinct (Chap. VII, §13, no. 1). If h\mathfrak{h} is a Cartan subalgebra of g\mathfrak{g}, put

Aute(g,h)=_e(\mathfrak{g},\mathfrak{h}) = Aute(g)∩_e(\mathfrak{g})\cap Aut(g,h\mathfrak{g},\mathfrak{h}), Aut0(g,h)=_0(\mathfrak{g},\mathfrak{h}) = Aut0(g)∩_0(\mathfrak{g})\cap Aut(g,h\mathfrak{g},\mathfrak{h}).

Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
