Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, chapter VIII, § 6. Modules over a split semi-simple Lie algebra

Let λ∈h∗\lambda \in \mathfrak{h}^*, E a g\mathfrak{g}-module generated by a primitive element of weight λ,χ\lambda ,\chi the central character of E, and φ\varphi the Harish-Chandra homomorphism from U0U^0 to V. Then, χ(z)=(φ(z))(λ)\chi (z) = (\varphi (z))(\lambda ) for all zz in the centre of U.

Let vv be a primitive element of E of weight λ\lambda, and zz an element of the centre of U. There exist u1,...,up∈Uu_1, . . . , u_p\in U and n1,...,np∈n+n_1, . . . , n_p\in \mathfrak{n}_+ such that z=φ(z)+u1n1+⋯+upnpz=\varphi (z) +u_1n_1+\cdots +u_pn_p. Then

χ(z)v=zv=φ(z)v+u1n1v+⋯+upnpv=φ(z)v=(φ(z))(λ)v \chi (z)v=zv=\varphi (z)v+u_1n_1v+\cdots +u_pn_pv=\varphi (z)v= (\varphi (z))(\lambda )v

Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
