Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, chapter VIII, § 8. Symmetric invariants

Let ff be a polynomial function on g\mathfrak{g}. The following conditions are equivalent:

(i) f∘s=ff\circ s=f for all s∈s\in Aute(g)_e(\mathfrak{g});

(ii) f∘s=ff\circ s=f for all s∈s\in Aut0(g)_0(\mathfrak{g});

(iii) ff is invariant.

The equivalence of (i) and (iii) follows from formula (2) and Lemma 3. It follows from this that (iii) implies (ii) by extension of the base field. The implication (ii) =⇒=\Rightarrow (i) is clear.

Note carefully that, if ff satisfies the conditions of Prop. 3,f3,f is not in general invariant under Aut(g\mathfrak{g}) (Exerc. 1 and 2).

Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
